Final Fantasy Versus XIII is not canceled

Despite recent articles, Final Fantasy Versus XIII is in fact still in production, according to a recent tweet by Square Enix’s CEO Yoichi Wada. Originally announced over six years ago, the Final Fantasy Versus XIII production has been well-kept under-wraps. It was perceived from anonymous sources of Kotaku that the production died and Square Enix was not formally going to announce that the game was canceled. Instead, they would let it slip away from people’s minds.

Game weekend deals on Steam, Amazon, Gamersgate, and more

Weekend Game Deals – Summer is here! *article taken from PC Gamer because it would just be silly to rewrite what’s already been conveniently laid out heh*

at 01:47am June 23 2012

Gather ’round, discount hounds: I’ve tales of summer sales for ye. Steam has augmented Deus Ex prices by 75%, Amazon has kicked 75% off Super Street Fighter IV: AE, GamersGate’s Total War sale has come back for the wounded soldiers who missed last week’s Steam sale, and GOG has initiated 17 days of head-to-head dealmatches. See all of this week’s sales inside! (I promise to use fewer awful analogies.)

STEAM

As you know, Deus Ex games are all 75% off this weekend. There are a few smaller discounts as well, but that’s the big one for this weekend. Oh, except 80% off Bejeweled 3, if you want a game with an exceptional number of ‘e’s in the title.

AMAZON

[US Only] Much remains the same at Amazon, though it’s now selling Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition at 75% off, and both Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 for $5 each.

ORIGIN

Origin is holding a “pre-order one, get one half off” sale. Origin’s deals page lists the pre-orders available and their resulting discounts. Some of them are silly, like 50% off SimCity 4, which is constantly discounted everywhere else. Pre-ordering Dead Space 3 can get you 50% off Mass Effect 3 or Battlefield 3, which isn’t bad…but you have to pre-order Dead Space 3. I prefer to avoid potential early adopter remorse.

GAMERSGATE

GamersGate is selling Total War stuff at 75% off or more, including the complete collection for $24.90.

GAMESTOP

GameStop only has a few new sales, most notably Aliens vs. Predator, Saints Row: The Third, and L.A. Noire. GamersGate beats its Shogun 2 sale, and the rest are carried over from last week.

GOG

I can’t list GOG’s sales at the moment, because it’s time for… BATTLE OF THE GAMES! Every day two games will be discounted — one at 40% off and one at 60% off — with the bigger discount going to the game with the most votes recorded the previous day. Go get your interactive marketing on, just be sure to vote for the games I want. (Please deactivate your neural firewall for a moment so I can upload my preferences.)

GAMEFLY

GameFly is rather barren this week — the only deal I spotted was the 50% off Payday: The Heist sale that’s being offered everywhere.

Let us know in the comments if you find any deals we missed!

Final Fantasy VII possibly coming to Steam

Final Fantasy VII looks like it might be heading to Steam. Square Enix registered a domain, FinalFantasyVIIPC.com, on June 15th which was originally detailed on GOG Forum. Additionally last year Steam’s registry listed Final Fantasy VII and VIII. The new version will have Steam achievements totaling to 36 and will also be supported by Steam Cloud.

“There will also be a new Character Booster item to max-out your HP, MP and Gil levels for when you ‘find yourself stuck on a difficult section or lacking the funds to buy that vital Phoenix Down'” (Eurogamer).

Deus Ex franchise reduced to 75% off for the weekend on Steam

This weekend Steam has selected the Deus Ex franchise to be 75% off. The complete Deus Ex Collection is available for just $14.99. It includes: Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Explosive Mission Pack, Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Tactical Enhancement Pack, Deus Ex: Human Revolution – The Missing Link, Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition, Deus Ex: Invisible War. Play as Adam Jensen, a security specialist, in this action RPG that integrates stealth, hacking, and direct combat in this open world game. Pick up the game before the deal ends on Monday at 1pm EST.

Additionally the Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Augmented Edition is available for $9.99 and includes the following:

  • Exclusive 40-page Artbook – Showcasing the concepts behind the world of 2027. Discover the origins of the design, the characters and the weapons of Deus Ex: Human Revolution
  • 44-minute making-of chronicling the trials and tribulations of the Eidos-Montreal team
  • Motion comic based on the first issue of the DC Comics adaptation
  • Game soundtrack composed by Michael McCann
  • E3 Trailer and animated storyboard

Hitman visits Chinatown

E3 is over, but there is still much to be discovered after the convention. With tons of games showcased, there are plenty of gameplay trailers roaming around YouTube and other sites. Here’s a sneak peek at IO Interactive’s Hitman: Absolution. It’s a gameplay demo within Chinatown. It’ll release Novemeber 20th on PC, Xbox 360, and PS3.

Sleeping Dogs E3 trailer continues to keep up the hype

The new Sleeping Dogs trailer doesn’t shy away from the gore. In less than three months, it’ll be released for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. If you want to pre-order the game, be sure to do so quickly since each pre-order from either Amazon, Gamestop, and Best Buy has bonuses.

E3 gameplay trailers: Resident Evil 6, Halo 4, Call of Duty: Black Ops II

I’m excited for Resident Evil 6. Below is the E3 gameplay trailer which highlights Leon Kennedy as RE 6‘s protagonist with a new partner named Helena Harper. RE 6 is scheduled to released on October 2nd for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The PC version will be released at a later date.

Developed by 343 Industries, Halo 4 is another game that’s highly anticipated to release this fall. The fourth installment will release on November 6th for Xbox 360 of course. Players will able to play as the “Master Chief”. Check out the gameplay trailer and live action trailer below.

Developed by Treyarch and published by Activision, Call of Duty is coming back this fall with Call of Duty: Black Ops II. The ninth installment of the franchise is set in 2025 and will feature a new cold war between China and the United States. From Call of Duty: Black Ops, Alex Mason is re-appearing in the sequel. The game is set to release on November 13th for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.
