Insomniac Games to release Facebook game, Outernauts

It feels like Facebook games are taking over sometimes, from Café World to Farmville; Facebook is practically Zynga’s playground. No, I don’t want to play Marvel: Avengers Alliance with you or The Sims for that matter. I just want to play my games sitting in my damn Steam library or hard drive. Well make way for a new Facebook game that might be sending you tons of requests from friends to your page. Insomniac Games, the creators of Ratchet & Clank and Resistance, are going to release a Facebook game titled Outernauts. Currently it’s in a close beta and looks to open into a public beta soon and a summer launch date.

In the game, you’ll be able to battle space pirates and capture space animals. It’s essentially like a “space Pokémon” game (which I admit I totally was hooked on Pokémon for a good chunk of my childhood). You’ll battle evil corporations and explore 30+ planets. You’ll also get to fight in dungeons and beat whatever lurks in the shadows. I’m not much of a Facebook user, but it sounds fun and interesting enough. Also there will be plenty of humor in this new game. Check out its Facebook page and official website. Looks like EA wants to take over more of Facebook now too.

Says Ted Price, founder and president of Insomniac, “We see a huge opportunity to reach an entirely different audience of gamers through Facebook. As we have demonstrated for nearly 20 years in the console games space, we’re confident we can help evolve the definition of a game experience on Facebook. With Outernauts, we are delivering a deep story with real RPG strategy, coupled with Insomniac’s signature sense of humor” (Game Informer).

Pokémon lovers can get free Pokémon

Pokémon fans may rejoice, come May 9th everyone will be able to retrieve Darkrai. The Mythical-Dark Pokémon will receive a new ability on the launch event and players should be excited about this Pokémon that can attack its opponents with nightmares. If you have a Nintendo handheld and either Game Freak’s Pokémon Black or White, you’ll be able to download this wonderful Pokémon through Nintendo’s Wi-Fi in a couple weeks time.
