New The Walking Dead video game in the works, set to release in 2013

If you love zombies, then I’m sure you’ve heard of The Walking Dead by now, the film or even the video game. Well now there’s a new The Walking Dead video game on the horizon. And no, this isn’t another episode from Telltale Games. Nope, this one will be published by Activison and developed by Terminal Reality. The new game will be a first-person shooter and take place before the events of the first episode of the critically-acclaimed AMC TV series. You’ll control Daryl Dixon and will embark on a journey about him and his brother Merle. It will incorporate possibilities to take on zombies directly or to avoid them. Additionally, the game will be released on PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 in 2013. Below is a trailer for the upcoming title. In other news, The Walking Dead: Episode 3 – Long Road Ahead will be available sometime in mid-August. The Walking Dead: Episode 2 – Starved for Help is available now to play. Purchase the game on Steam for $24.99 (supports PC and Mac through Steamplay).

Amazing Spider-Man will release later on PC

For some reason and with no explanation at all, Activision’s The Amazing Spider-Man game will arrive on PC in August. The game will be over a month late compared to the launch for the Xbox 360, PS3, 3DS, DS, and Wii versions that will hit stores this Friday. Perhaps the halted launch is due to The Amazing Spider-Man being available on Steam on August 10th, oh and with Steam Achievements. Who knows, hopefully they’ll be be enhancing the game and making it the best it should be, at least that’s what I’d like to think whenever there’s a PC game version release date delay. It seems inevitable that most PC releases get hit with the delay bug. However, the Spider-Man game has been compared to Batman: Arkham City, which is a pretty nice statement.

Until the PC release, you can always watch the film that appears in theatres on July 3rd next week.

Guild Wars 2 now has a release day

UPDATE: You can join the final beta test scheduled July 20th to the 22nd. Those who pre-ordered the game can also join in it.

Guild Wars 2 will be releasing on August 28th. Yesterday ArenaNet conducted a four hour stress test that allowed beta players to re-enter the world and revisit their characters in the MMORPG. It was only a matter of time after the stress test that the launch date would be announced.  Additionally, Madden NFL 13 and Transformers: Fall of Cyberton are also releasing on the same day.

The Amazing Spider-Man developer walkthrough trailer

On June 26th (June 29th for EU), The Amazing Spider-Man game will release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, 3DS, and DS. The video below shows the executive producer, Brent Nicholas, controlling the famous Marvel Comics’ character through Manhattan. Additionally the film is scheduled to release July 3rd.

Angry Birds HD to consoles

Activision is bring Angry Birds to consoles apparently. At E3 Activision aired a video of its upcoming games and a segment of it was an angry bird flying through its logo which in fact meant a HD version soon to release on consoles. In addition, there was an unannounced mobile game teased as well. As much as I like Angry Birds, the idea of it to console just seems silly to me. It’s an easy silly little game that we are now porting to consoles so you take out your big, bulky controller to pull back the slingshot? Yeah no, that just doesn’t sound appealing to me and way less interactive than the touch-screen versions available on Android and iOS.

E3 gameplay trailers: Resident Evil 6, Halo 4, Call of Duty: Black Ops II

I’m excited for Resident Evil 6. Below is the E3 gameplay trailer which highlights Leon Kennedy as RE 6‘s protagonist with a new partner named Helena Harper. RE 6 is scheduled to released on October 2nd for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The PC version will be released at a later date.

Developed by 343 Industries, Halo 4 is another game that’s highly anticipated to release this fall. The fourth installment will release on November 6th for Xbox 360 of course. Players will able to play as the “Master Chief”. Check out the gameplay trailer and live action trailer below.

Developed by Treyarch and published by Activision, Call of Duty is coming back this fall with Call of Duty: Black Ops II. The ninth installment of the franchise is set in 2025 and will feature a new cold war between China and the United States. From Call of Duty: Black Ops, Alex Mason is re-appearing in the sequel. The game is set to release on November 13th for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.

Square Enix releases new Sleeping Dogs 101 trailer as the game’s release is just less than three months away

Square Enix has released a new trailer for a game I’m highly anticipating and I’m sure many others are, Sleeping Dogs. This game is scheduled to release on August 14th for the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.

If you don’t know anything about the game, well here’s some information. This game was originally titled True Crime: Hong Kong back in 2009. It was supposed to be the third installment of the True Crime series and a rework title. However last year, Activision canceled the game due to the high budget and development delays as well as the belief that the game just wouldn’t sell. Instead Square Enix saw something special in the game and received the publishing rights six months later after Activision’s plans fell through; however obviously they did not use the series name True Crime.

Now reworked under Square Enix’s eye, the game has received tons of new trailers recently showcasing the gameplay and the martial arts as its mainstay. The soon-to-be-released game highlights a brightly lit up Hong Kong at night as you take control of the protagonist, Wei Shen. Wei Shen is an undercover cop, who attempts to infiltrate the Triad, one of Hong Kong’s most notorious gangs. The Triad organization he must infiltrate is named Sun On Yee, which references to the real-life Triad gang Sun Yee On. As Wei Shen, you can free roam around the city of Hong Kong and beat down on tons of people using much of the city’s items at your disposal. Got an air vent behind you? Just dodge out of the way of your opponent’s attacks or take him by his clothes and shove him in there. Got a burning gas stove in the room? No problem, just put the fire out with your opponent’s face. Much of the game has unique fighting finishers and as you play throughout it, you may also level Wei Shen’s abilities and Face XP, Police XP, and Triad XP. In addition, you will be able to purchase clothes that will help you along the way.

The game’s combat style is similar to that of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City and the bullet time features are reminiscent of Max Payne. While the free running aspect of the game is similar to the Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed, the open world/free roam and quests are similar to Grand Theft Auto. The game is an extremely well-thought out and well-developed melting pot of the best features in video games today.

Check out the trailer below and if you are interested, you can pre-purchase it on Steam for $44.99 (10% off discount) and you’ll receive the following extras: “upgraded to the Limited Edition for free and two exclusive DLC packs” (DSO Gaming). You may additionally pre-order the game from Amazon, Best Buy, or Gamestop; however be aware the pre-order bonuses ARE NOT available for PC gamers. Instead Square Enix has stated they’ll release a PC-exclusive for the digital download of the game.

If you pre-order the game from Amazon, you’ll receive these pre-order bonuses: Martial Arts Pack, which includes a Shaolin Showdown mission, Shaolin Warrior outfit (with increased striking damage), Bonus Triad XP points, and Wing Chun decoration for your safe house.

If you pre-order the game from Best Buy, you’ll receive the “exclusive George St. Pierre Pack, which allows you to use the outfit, T-shirt, headband and shorts to harness the powerful talents and strengths of the world-class fighter”.

If you pre-order from Gamestop, you’ll get “Police Protection Pack, which includes an exclusive mission, vehicle and weapon. The “High Speed” Mission lets you join the Hong Kong Police Department SWAT Unit in an all out street war with the Triads. Swerve through traffic, explosions and gun fire as you chase down your targets in an exclusive Swat Police Car. With The Police Protection Pack Assault Rifle you can take your enemies out with either a single shot, or a spray of bullets”.

Blizzard sets company pre-order record with Diablo III, WoW is steady, CoD has 40 million monthly users

Blizzard’s much-anticipated Diablo III is on the horizon. It will be releasing this coming Tuesday, May 15th. Blizzard Entertainment in fact set a new pre-order record for themselves. At least 1.2 million people signed up for the annual pass for World of Warcraft which nets them a free copy of Diablo III and even 2 million people signed up for the Diablo III beta. Meanwhile Blizzard’s popular MMO, World of Warcraft, is at a steady 10.2 million subscribers.

Also, Activision Blizzard’s Call of Duty is raking in 40 million active monthly users. Then the Call of Duty Elite service is receiving 10 million users while 2 million of those users are even paying for the annual premium membership.

Amazing Spider-Man video game adds pre-order bonuses

So I was completely unaware that there is a new Spider-Man movie and video game releasing. It’s called the The Amazing Spider-Man. Activision is releasing the video game titled this summer on June 26th, a week in advance before the movie releases on July 3rd. The video game now is receiving pre-order bonuses, but unfortunately only for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions.

If you pre-order the game from Gamestop, you’ll receive the Rhino Challenge which will allow you to play as Rhino who will let you wreck havoc on the city. However, if you pre-order from Amazon, you’ll be able to play as Stan Lee, the creator of Spider-man, and you must look for the pages of his latest script. Although you will not receive the bonuses above, the game is available also on PC, Wii, 3DS, and DS come June 26th.

New Call of Duty title going to be revealed

Call of Duty‘s publisher, Activision updated their website to show the above image. Apparently during the basketball playoffs, Activision will be releasing a new trailer for the next installment of the Call of Duty series. I’m not a fan of military games at all, but if you are then you have something to look forward to on May 1st.

Halo 4 – November 6

Add the annual big seller NBA 2K13 to that mix, and you have quite a lineup of titles scheduled to drop before the yearly Call of Duty sales explosion in November. Several other games scheduled to release in 2012 are still waiting for release dates, like Skylanders Giants, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Tomb Raider, Dishonored, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, and Brothers in Arms: Furious 4. If they want to stay clear of the Call of Duty blast radius, we wouldn’t be surprised to see many of these titles shoehorned into September and October as well. Add the rumors of Grand Theft Auto V possibly shipping this year, and It’s shaping up to be an exciting lineup.

Which games are you planning to splurge for first?”

Prototype 2 has a new trailer as its release date nears

I didn’t get too far into Prototype since my lame laptop had a lot of graphics problems around the time I got the game. But overall I found it an enjoyable game. I certainly don’t mind spending my time slicing and dicing mutants. With the sequel to Activision’s game, the new trailer most definitely highlights the gruesomeness of ripping your opponents in half cleanly with the armblade.

The Prototype 2 is slated to release on April 24th for PS3 and Xbox 360. It’ll release on July 24th for PC.
