Red Sox vs Yankees 7/7/12 play-by-play

Red Sox finally win! Doubront receives the win of the third game of the series. The final score was 9-5.

Top of the 9th: Aceves replaced Padilla. Chavez shot a solo one over into the bullpen. Red Sox up 9-5 now.

Top of the 8th: Clay Mortensen replaced Albers. Mortensen loaded the bases. Vicente Padilla replaced Mortensen and got two foul outs to end the inning.

Bottom of the 7th: Ryan Sweeney belted a deep RBI triple to center field to score Gonzalez, who reached on a double, to make the score 6-4 Red Sox. Gomez lined a single right past the third basemen to tack on another run. Red Sox lead 7-4. Pedro Ciriaco hit a single that was ruled a fielding error, but it plated Aviles, who pinch-runned for Gomez. Upon stealing 3rd, Ciriaco managed to score on a throwing error by Russell Martin to make it 9-4 Red Sox. D. J. Mitchell replaced Clay Rapada.

Top of the 7th: Andruw Jones hit a solo shot to make the score a one run deficit at 5-4. Matt Albers relieved Doubront after Nix gave the the first out of the inning.

Bottom of the 6th: Adrian Gonzalez singled. Cory Wade relieved Boone Logan. Ross reached on a fielding error by Jeter. Men on 1st and 2nd. Gomez then lined a single past Andruw Jones to load the bases. Ciriaco doubled to bring in three runs to bring the Red Sox further ahead 5-3.

Bottom of the 5th: Peter Ciriaco singled with one out. Nava reached on a fielding error by former Red Sox player, Darnell McDonald. The error brought Ciriaco to 3rd base. Punto then plated Ciriaco on a sacrifice fly to left field to put the Red Sox behind only one run. Boone Logan replaced Phil Hughes.

Bottom of the 3rd: Gomez scored after being hit in by Daniel Nava. Red Sox 1-3.

Top of the 1st: Teixeira put the Yankees on the board first by hitting a three run home run to score himself and both Granderson and Jeter. Yankees 3-0.

Game 1

Boston Red Sox drop the first game of the doubleheader 6-1. The Red Sox could not come up with any offense in response to the early lead the Yankees received in the top of the 1st.

Bottom of the 4th: Mauro Gomez singled to plate Ortiz for the Red Sox’s first run.

Top of the 4th: Andruw Jones hit a solo shot to left field to make the score 5-0 Yankees. Jayson Nix also hit  home run to make it 6-0.

Top of the 1st: Franklin Morales gave up a three run home run over the Monstah to Nick Swisher. Andruw Jones took a fastball into the Monstah seats to make a 4-0 Yankees lead off of back-to-back home runs.
