New smartphone game Assassin’s Creed: Utopia will not be directly linked to AC III, instead set pre-AC III

In addition to delaying the PC release of Assassin’s Creed III, Ubisoft has announced a new Assassin’s Creed smartphone game titled Assassin’s Creed: Utopia. However unlike Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation, this game is not linked to Assassin’s Creed III and will not affect your game.

“‘There are no links between the games'”, Assassin’s Creed producer Andreane Meunier told Eurogamer at E3. “‘But the narrative will lead into the ACIII narrative, since it’s a kind of pre-era to the Assassin’s Creed III era'” (Eurogamer).

For the new title, Ubisoft is working together with GREE. So far there is now launch date as of yet, but surely it will subsequently release around the console launch date come this October. There is apparently a huge fan-base that is in tune with the narrative side of Assassin’s Creed, such as the novels, comics, and even Assassin’s Creed Recollection. In fact these people just wish to read about the series rather than play the PC/console/handheld games. Really? I mean that’s all well and good, but the games are my favorite video game series. I guess those people just don’t like to “experience” the interactive part of the series. To each their own.

Assassin’s Creed: Utopia will not be a card game, but it will provide a bit more information concerning Abstergo, which will in fact be developing a program titled Utopia in order to “revisit and reconstruct eras” according to Meunier. Earlier this year the GREE Assassin’s Creed project was unveiled. According to that article by Eurogamer, the new game will hit sometime in December, but of course we won’t really know until Ubisoft announces the launch date.
