Sox fall 3-5 to As; Celtics rise in Rondo’s absence to take Game 2

Yesterday there looked like some hope in the bottom of the ninth, but unfortunately a liner to the As second baseman from Pedroia ended any hope of a walk-off win at a 5-3 defeat to the West. Doubront wasn’t amazing like he was in his first outing against the New York Yankees. Felix went only 4 innings, throwing 94 pitches and allowing 5 runs on just 6 hits. He did manage to get 8 Ks. The rest of the bullpen was great and recorded scoreless innings. Doubront gave up one run in the first inning to Yoenis Cespedes. The Athletics then banged on four more runs in the top of the fourth to send Doubront back to the dugout. Pennington doubled to score Suzuki, which was later followed by a 2 run RBI single from Weeks, who later stole third and got home because of a throwing error by Doubront. The only run the Red Sox could muster up before their 9th inning almost-comeback was a sac grounder by Papi which scored Pedroia in the fourth. Aviles scored the last two runs for the Sox when he lined a drive to center field during a bases loaded jam for the Athletics.

Bradley also scored 14 points and had three blocks. The Hawks also lost their man Josh Smith due to a knee sprain. Game 3 begins at 7.30pm on Friday May 4th on ESPN and CSN. And yes, Pierce did Tebowed…
