Reid Brignac said he "knew something was not right" after landing on Jacoby Ellsbury.

After a nasty collision with Reid Brignac yesterday during Opening Day, Ellsbury has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a subluxed right shoulder. According to the Red Sox, “No timetable was set for Ellsbury’s return, but subluxations — when the upper arm comes partially out of the shoulder socket beyond what is normal — can typically take six to eight weeks to return, or more.” Hopefully the injury isn’t too bad and we’ll see Ellsbury back with the Red Sox real soon.

Clay Buchholz is the starting pitcher for game 2 against the Tampa Bay Rays. So far, it’s not a great start considering his extremely impressive record against the Rays. It’s 4-0 Rays. Buchholz allowed a 3-run homer to the douchebag Luke Scott and previously, Carlos Pena doubled to right field scoring Desmond Jennings for the first run of the game. Still 4-0 Rays in the bottom of the 2nd inning.

UPDATE: Jarrod Saltalamacchia hit a two-run home run to center field, scoring Ryan Sweeney, putting the Sox just down by 2 runs going into the third inning. Scott doubled to center field, scores Matt Joyce to take a 5-2 lead in the top of the third. Pedroia homered with one out in the bottom of the third, cutting the Rays lead to 5-3. Bottom of the fifth, Ortiz tied up the game to 5-5 by belting a two-run homer to right center field. Later in the seventh, Aviles lets the Sox take the lead 6-5 by sending a solo shot to left field. Sox tack on some more insurance runs when Cody Ross doubled to left, advancing Gonzalez and Youkilis to home and changing the score to 8-5. Ortiz belted a double that tacked on three RBIs to his stat, setting the Sox at a comfortable 11-5 lead. Ross scored another big hit, sending a two run shot to left field, being the last Red Sox hit of the night and upping the score 13-5. Clay Buchholz received the win for today, going seven innings, allowing five runs on six hits and striking out five. Badenhop was given the loss going only one inning and giving up one run.

The lineup for today’s game is:

Aviles SS
Pedroia 2B
Gonzalez 1B
Youkilis 3B
Ortiz DH
Ross CF
Sweeney RF
Saltalamacchia C
McDonald LF

Buchholz SP

Also the Bruins are playing right now in their 2nd game against the Capitals. The Capitals take the lead 1-0 with a goal from Brouwer during 17:57 of the 2nd period.

UPDATE: The Bruins tie up Game 2 at 12:13 in the third period with a goal by Benoit Pouliot, assisted by Brain Rolston and Chris Kelly. In second overtime at 2:56, the Capitals took Game 2 to tie the series with Backstrom’s snap shot.
